They came over and said they needed my tank to go into the 3rd platoon and in doing that we were the only tank from our platoon that was in this group up there and virtually we were the only tank that was there.

So, they set us up on a point and it was out in front of everybody, and my crew we always tried even before it got dark. We would have them binoculars out and we would be going all over the place trying to find any kind of movement. And my group found it. There were 2 of them that came up to me and said Sgt. there’s movement over there so i checked it out and i was agreeing with them. So, I went over to the Lts. tank who was a real greenhorn and he had only been with his unit probably a week if that and our 3rd platoons platoon Sgt. got sent home that day by helicopter. They picked him up and they sent him back to base and he actually went home and in doing that we had no real leadership up there. I took that platoon Sgt. or that Lt. over there and I said we got movement over there and he looked and said “oh it's nothing, it's nothing”.

So probably an hour later, it wasn’t quite dark yet, we were still seeing it, i went and got him again he said “ let me tell you something if you bring this kind of information to me again we're gonna have words and you go back to your post and consider there no enemy out there, no movement”.
